AcceleNet™ Version 2.6 Released

December 27, 2004

Intelligent Compression Technologies, Inc. (ICT) announced today the release of Version 2.6 of AcceleNet CS (Client/Server). AcceleNet provides accelerated speeds and compressed data transfers on all wireless (2G, 2.5G and 3G), Dial-up and satellite networks. AcceleNet provides significantly faster download and upload speeds for email with attachments, web browsing and file transfer applications. Using advanced compression and protocol optimization techniques, AcceleNet enables high speed wireless, dial-up and remote data services for the Enterprise, Wireless Carrier and ISP markets with major deployments to these market segments world wide.

Peter Lepeska, Vice President of Product Development at ICT, states "With the release of AcceleNet Version 2.6, we have solidified our place as the market leader in terms of raw and perceived speed, server capacity and functionality."

Enhancements to the AcceleNet system include:

  • Faster browse times: A number of enhancements have been made to the compression engines and transport to provide an overall speed-up in browsing over both dial-up and wireless connections.
  • Internet Explorer Cache Optimization: In the two fastest speed settings (fair and good quality), AcceleNet uses a number of strategies to optimize the performance gains achieved by the Internet Explorer cache on second and subsequent visits to a web site in the same browser session.
  • Support for Clientless acceleration: The AcceleNet server can now simultaneously support both client-server mode (CS), where the AcceleNet client has been installed on the end user's machine, and clientless mode (CL) where no client is required by the user. Supporting both modes allows the AcceleNet server to offer unprecedented acceleration coverage to all devices and client operating systems. AcceleNet Server can now operate as a compressing web proxy.
  • DNS acceleration: DNS caching: AcceleNet now keeps its own in-memory cache of recently looked up DNS name mappings to IP address. This results in acceleration gains and more importantly a beneficial impact on overall server capacity.
  • Further reduction in number of small packets transmitted: This results in both improved acceleration performance and server capacity.
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 version of the AcceleNet Server: The AcceleNet Server can now run on Linux. It is fully feature compatible with the Windows version.
  • “Update Page Content” and "View All Original Images on Page" functionality added: In addition to right clicking on images within the page to load an uncompressed image, Version 2.6 now supports “Update Page Content” and "View All Original Images On Page" functionality.

About Intelligent Compression Technologies

Intelligent Compression Technologies, Inc., a privately held company located in Quincy, MA, provides web acceleration, internet acceleration, email acceleration and wireless acceleration software for enterprise, ISPs and wireless carriers. ICT's AcceleNet™ accerator enables wide-area wireless networks (i.e. 2G/2.5G/3G), dial-up 56kbps lines and satellite to operate at Broadband like speeds, enabling accelerated access to Email with attachments, corporate applications, Intranets and the Web. ICT also licenses compression software to OEMs, which dramatically shrinks Microsoft Office™ files, XML data and common web images to enable faster file transfers, software delivery and reduced storage capacity.
