Fresh on the heels of formally releasing AcceleNet™, its high performance data acceleration product designed for narrowband (wireless, dialup, etc.) networks, Intelligent Compression Technologies, Inc. (ICT) is expanding support by introducing a clientless option for AcceleNet.
The availability of a clientless version of AcceleNet will provide additional benefits to ICT's customers. Since AcceleNet client software will not be required to reside on the end user's computing device, any user with a computing device such as a laptop, PDA or smart phone equipped with any operating system or application that supports a web browser can utilize AcceleNet for accelerated web access. While the Clientless version of AcceleNet will not support email and bi-directional acceleration it will address the needs of those who only desire to speed up web access.
"Although AcceleNet's client/server version outperformed every other competitor in terms of speed in customer evaluations worldwide," says Carlo Chiavaroli, VP Carrier & ISP Sales at ICT, "we found that in a small number of important accounts, there was a need to provide a clientless version as an option for end users unable to use client software. While these customers recognize that no clientless acceleration product can achieve the speed performance of a client software-based accelerator product," he added, "they needed to support a wider range of end user devices."
With its new, clientless version of AcceleNet, ICT will be able to service two types of end users – those who can utilize the client-side software to gain the market's highest level of acceleration for use in web browsing, email and file transfer, and those who can't utilize client-side software but want a high level of acceleration for web browsing only.
