Intelligent Compression Technologies, Inc. (ICT), a software company providing data compression technology to the Internet, Communications and Networking industry, has been awarded a series of patents for its leading edge compression technology.
ICT received the Notice of Allowance on its "Data Coding Network" patent application on February 16, 2001, which covers the core algorithms used within its Document-Xpress™ compression engine (formerly referred to as XpressFiles). Document-Xpress is a compression engine built on a set of application file-specific compression algorithms which dramatically compress Microsoft Office™ file formats including Word, Excel and Powerpoint as well as the most common image formats found on the Internet. Document-Xpress™ enables Microsoft Office file formats to be compressed to typically only 8-12% of its original uncompressed size thereby creating cost savings and a better user experiences for markets including wireless data services, data storage, etc.
In addition, Michael Schindler, ICT's Chief Scientist, received a patent on his "Limited-Order Blocksort" patent application on March 6, 2001, which covers the innovative compression algorithm used in ICT's Universal-Xpress™ compression engine. The Universal-Xpress compression engine is used for general purpose compression which does not need application file-specific compression algorithms, such as for electronic software distribution, ecommerce applications, ASP services, hardware, etc.
"We are very pleased to be receiving these patents on our data compression technology," said Bill Sebastian, President of ICT, Inc. "As a leading supplier of data compression software, we anticipated the need for data compression as a means to effectively address the bandwidth limitations which would otherwise limit many applications and usage of the Internet, Wireless services, and general networking. While some technologies focus on masking the problem by providing speed vs. quality tradeoffs, we successfully focus on compression technology which does not require this tradeoff, as our customers recognize. "
About Intelligent Compression Technologies
Intelligent Compression Technologies, Inc., a privately held company located in Quincy, Massachusetts, is a leading developer of advanced, file-format specific software compression products for the Communications, Internet, and Networking industries where data delivery speed over a relatively limited bandwidth is an issue. It's products include Document-Xpress™, (compression algorithms for Microsoft's Word, Excel, & Powerpoint as well as images/graphics), XML-Xpress (compression for XML data), and others including customized compression products for specialized applications. The end result is a dramatic increase in file transfer speeds over enterprise, service provider and wireless/wireline carrier applications. Visit us at www.accelenet.com.
