Intelligent Compression Technologies, Inc. (ICT) announced today that they have licensed their data compression technology to Manpower Inc. for use in speeding Manpower's data transmission within its European data network. Manpower has applied ICT's XML-Express™ Basic product to enhance the performance of its web-based Customer Relationship Management application. This application will be used by Manpower employees within EMEA and accessed via their Intranet and the Internet. Manpower contracted ICT, to optimize to the maximum the network load generated by the XML transportation layer The results of the compression of these messages made the advantages of relatively big XML messages usable on a diversity of network characteristics Given that the wire line network environment within EMEA varies from excellent to basic (10-16kbps) in some countries, there was a need to reduce the network load to enable the acceptance and usage of this high performance application.
According to Edo Sartini, Mgr Development and integration IT EMEA for Manpower Inc. in Brussels, "The variable network conditions within the EMEA region were such that it presented a barrier to the use of our new CRM application which is so critical for business efficiency and customer management." "With the application of ICT's compression technology" he added "we were able to dramatically reduce the size of the XML packages, which in turn reduced the network as a bottleneck for the necessary data transmission rates for this application".
